President & Founder Charlie Johnson

Charlie Johnson, M.S. Ed., is a Republic High School special education teacher and educational consultant.  Charlie is the president and founder of Family Literacy Centers of Springfield, Inc., a non-profit organization that has partnered with the faith community, the business community, and local governmental agencies to promote literary, mathematics, and life skills to ethnically/racially diverse children and adults.  Charlie’s research in the area of reading acquisition for students with disabilities has been presented at the Midwest Symposium for the Leadership of Behavioral Disorders, the Missouri State Conference for the Council for Exceptional Children, the Missouri State Conference for the Learning Disabilities Association, and for the Editorial Board for New Readers Press, Syracuse, NY, publisher of adult and children literacy books and a division of ProLiteracy Worldwide.  Charlie’s research won the Missouri State University Graduate Forum’s Best Session.  Charlie is also the president of Teaching Solutions, LLC, an educational consulting company that offers school districts and parents training in reading acquisition and tutoring services for students; with a focus on remediation of skills for students with disabilities.  Charlie and his wife Kerri have one son, Cameron and Charlie is the co-pastor of his church, Christ Exalted Ministries, Inc.
